What is an GSU Monitor ?
Introducing the GSU, a cutting-edge multi-input gas safety device designed to enhance your gas monitoring capabilities. This innovative unit monitors two levels of digital inputs, including one warning alarm and four shutdown alarms, with an additional remote shutdown input for added safety. Featuring an integral pneumatic solenoid valve, the GSU effectively controls your pneumatically actuated valve on the gas manifold, panel, or supply, ensuring optimal performance and safety in your operations. In Service Mode the unit will monitor all connected digital inputs and provide you with visible and audible notification of any alarm, a Warning alarm (Low Cylinder pressure) will be an indication and audible alarm and have no effect on the pneumatic valve, a Shutdown alarm (High Delivery Pressure, Extract / Exhaust Failure, Excess Gas Flow, Auxiliary Input) will result in an indication and audible alarm and will automatically close the pneumatic valve thus stopping any gas flow to the gas manifold.
The GSU also has an Purge mode which is used for maintenance purposes, for safety reasons you must shutdown the unit before entering Purge Mode as it will not allow you into Purge while the valve is open.
In Purge Mode the unit will have a different action regarding alarms and the valve but rest assured that with any safety Shutdown alarm the valve will close in any case ! There will still be an indication of the status of ALL alarm inputs although Excess Flow and High Delivery will give no audible alarm and the valve will not close if triggered, this is because during maintenance it is likely these alarms will be triggered.
Regardless of whether the GSU is in Service or Purge mode Extract Fail and Aux (Auxiliary input which can be utilized for anything you require) WILL be a Shutdown event and will close the valve and give you a visible and audible alarm.
Connectivity
All Designed Electronics units come with high quality screw terminal plugs for all of your units inter-connections, and all of your sensor wiring information is contained in the supplied Operation Manual and can also be found on our GSU Technical Page

The GSU also comes with Isolated Status Outputs for you to connect to external monitoring equipment or BMS
We also include a Slave Valve output if you wanted the GSU to control an external Valve / Line Solenoid Valve (you would also require a suitable Power Supply for your chosen valve)

All Designed Electronics units come with a 1 to 10 second adjustable delay for the Extract Failure alarm input
All Designed Electronics units come with a loud 92db sounder which includes an adjustable volume control if required
All Designed Electronics units come with an easily selectable jumper to expand the amount of sounder tones available
Please Note that alarm names can be changed to suit your sensor by applying a matching label on to the Alarm Status Window

Shutdown Button Shroud
An optional Shutdown Button Shroud is available
A shroud will help eliminate accidental pressing in of the Shutdown button and will also give you the option of then fitting an optional padlock to the shroud so that once the Shutdown button is pressed in a padlock can be inserted into the shroud which will prevent the pneumatic valve from opening which is an addition safety interlock for when you are performing maintenance on your equipment when safety is paramount

Need Atex Safety Barriers ? - No problem - Add a Galvanic Isolation Enclosure
If your gas cabinet is for a Pyrophoric / Flammable gas then Atex galvanic safety barriers are highly recommended, without one if a sensor has a catastrophic failure or someone accidentally cuts through a sensor cable there will be a momentary spark which could have a catastrophic effect within the gas enclosure, with galvanic isolation barriers the power to the sensor is greatly reduced preventing a spark to be generated in the case of a cut sensor wire or sensor failure, we offer a range of 2 / 4 / 6 channel Galvanic Isolation Enclosures suitable for our product range, more information will be available after the next website upgrade but please contact us for more information.
Need More Inputs ? - No problem - Add an ALU
If you are requiring more inputs to the GSU you can add an ALU2, ALU4, or ALU6 depending on the amount of extra inputs that you require, you would then connect your additional sensors into the ALU's inputs and then set the inputs of the ALU to either be a Warning Alarm or a Shutdown alarm, once you have done this you will then connect the Shutdown Output relay of the ALU into the Aux input of the GSU, Any shutdown alarm on the ALU will systematically shutdown the GSU thus keeping your system safe.
