What is an ALU Monitor ?
ALU (Alarm Unit) is a non PLC based ultra reliable ultra low power digital input monitoring unit.
If you are wanting to safely and reliably monitor any type of switch contact / relay contact / proximity switch then these are the monitors for you ! Used in all aspects of industry these monitors offer a ready built solution for your needs.
Whether you are wanting to monitor a shutdown button, pressure contact switch gauges for low pressure warnings / high delivery pressure warnings, pressure switches for high or low pressure alarms, velocity switches (extraction detection switch) reed switch, magnetic reed switch, or maybe a relay contact from a different device for example a fire / flame detection, gas detection, BMS (Building Management System) float switches for high or low level, pressure pad switches, door switches, or any combination of the above Basically - if it a volt free switch contact / relay contact then an ALU can monitor and act on it and this includes inductive proximity switches too !
Ease of use
( With absolutely No Programming Required ! )
Our monitors and controllers do not rely on a sequence of complicated button presses to enter into a configuration mode to hopefully achieve your correct required operation
instead we keep things simple and logical for our customers and installers and easy to see.
If you want to Enable or Disable an input simply switch it on or off with its switch.
If you want to set an input to be Normally Open or Normally Closed simply choose one or the other with its switch.
If you want to set an input to be a low importance Warning Alarm or a high level Shutdown Alarm select this with its switch.

A simple adjustment of the switches on the circuit board is all it takes - Embrace simplicity and efficiency with our user-friendly design, why make things complicated ? With our units you will simply know and be able to see the configuration of each input.
Please Note - For the gas industry it is imperritive that inputs should ONLY be configured to Normally Closed as this is regarded as 'Fail Safe' and in the event of a switch going faulty or a wire being cut the monitor will alert you to these situations.
Input Indication
Once your monitor has been configured to your requirements your Input Channel indicator will act in the following way

Any channel can be Enabled or Disabled
When Disabled the LED will not be illuminated and the Input channel will not be monitored
Any channel can be Enabled or Disabled
When a channel is Enabled and no fault is present the LED will illuminate GREEN indicating that the input channel is being monitored
When Any channel is Enabled and set as a low level 'Warning' alarm and an Input fault is detected the horn will sound and the LED will flash YELLOW, The Warning Output Relay will also change state
When Any channel is Enabled and set as a high level 'Shutdown' alarm and an Input fault is detected the horn will sound and the LED will flash RED, The Shutdown Output Relay will also change state
Pressing the RESET button will silence the alarm and the LED will remain ON showing its appropriate Alarm colour or GREEN if the Input fault has cleared and is in a good state
2 Levels of Alarm and Connectivity
As mentioned above our monitors and controllers incorporate two levels of alarm type, a Low Importance Warning Alarm and a High Importance Shutdown Alarm our units also provide you with an isolated Relay Output for each type of alarm state,
this enables you to connect our monitors to a BMS (Building Management System to monitor the status of our unit remotely) or you can interconnect our units together For Example . . . If you had several ALU monitors you can connect the Output Relays of each unit in series to provide an overall output status of whether any monitor has a Warning Alarm or a Shutdown Alarm or both, you could even wire these outputs to an Input of another ALU (an ALU2 two channel unit would be ideal) to indicate whether there is any Warning Alarm or a Shutdown alarm remotely.

Wiring connections are made easily by pulling out the appropriate green screw terminal plug to connect your wires and then simply push back in when completed

OUTPUTS (All Variants)
This is the same simple method when connecting your Inputs

But what if you need a time delay before an alarm activates ?
No problem ! whether you have an ALU2, ALU 4 or ALU 6 Channel 2 has an easily adjustable 1 to 10 second input delay.

But what if you need the cable glands at the top of the monitor instead of at the bottom ?
Again No problem, we have designed our controller range with the installer in mind, we appreciate how big a job can get when re-work is involved to suit your installation so to elleviate this problem you can achieve top entry cable glands with nothing more than a small flat bladed screwdriver !
Unclip left and right with a flat bladed screwdriver

Turn the lid 180 degrees
Clip the clips back in place

How easy was that !
Product Manufacture
Our ALU Monitors, like all our monitors and controllers, are meticulously designed and manufactured in the UK to high standards. Designed from the ground up using top-quality components, they feature no PLC or memory backup battery resulting in ultra-low power consumption and exceptional reliability. Fully RoHS compliant, all circuit boards are conformal coated to marine grade, with components sourced from reputable manufacturers, ensuring full traceability. Our units undergo comprehensive, documented multi-stage testing procedures, and they have not only 'been tested to' but they have been tested to AND fully passed all EMC requirements ! which is also fully documented. Unlike other manufacturers our commitment lies in delivering superior quality, efficiency, and reliability rather than solely focusing on profit through cheap components and methods. Unlike others we also provide you with comprehensive product support.

Input Identification Labels. (If you would like us to do these for you please Please see our Customisation Service Page)
With the endless possibilities of inputs that can be connected to our units our front membranes have been designed to accommodate a standard Avery label to each input window, This enables the installer or the customer to be able to design and print your own labels to affix to the front membrane.
Blank label sheets can be bought directly from Avery who have a very quick delivery time and their online label making software is free to use, you just enter your label sheet number (L4732 - 36 x 17) and your label sheet template will appear on the screen, you can simply make your labels how you want with any font and colour combination, print them out and apply them to your Channel Input window. We use and recommend the Avery Permanent Lamination Gloss Waterproof Laser Print Labels.
Affixing Labels . . .
Once you have printed your labels you can simply remove the label from the label sheet and carefully apply the label to your required Channel Input window

With endless possibilities of design you will soon have your required label templates set up for your future label printing

Or alternatively we can print and fix your required labels to your controller(s) ready for you prior to dispatch, you will need to email/contact us with your input label requirements prior to dispatch, Please see our Customisation Service Page
What do you get in the box ?
With your new unit you will get a full gloss A5 User Operation Manual, a fitted 3A UK mains plug, a Wall Mounting Kit, a Product Registration card with a Full 2 Years Warranty and Inside the unit you will also find a complete cable glands package
Other Mounting Options . . .
If you are requiring an alternative mounting option for example you want to mount your unit onto an enclosure / gas cabinet / shelving system then don't worry we also have you covered ! Please take a look at our Mounting Solutions page where you will find our Stainless Steel mounting Cassette Systems.
